CRG kart chassis for recreational and competitive karting

Add speed, precise handling and a genuine racing feel! CRG kart chassis offer options for young drivers taking their next step, adults enjoying karting as a hobby, and serious competitors. Choosing the right chassis starts with the class and events you want to race in. The engine, tyres, driver size and track grip all affect which setup will work best.

OKJ and OK are international direct-drive kart racing classes. Both use 125 cm3 water-cooled two-stroke engines. OKJ, or OK-Junior, is the junior class, while OK is the senior class. Racing is all about precise racing lines, carrying speed through corners and getting a good exit: drivers focus on throttle, braking and steering without changing gears. A well-matched chassis and tyre combination helps you make the most of the engine’s performance.

For the 2026 season, Finland’s national championship series features the OKN Junior and OKN Senior classes, each with its own technical regulations. OKN Junior is for drivers aged 12–14, while OKN Senior is for drivers aged 14 and up. Both classes use sealed, randomly allocated Vortex rental engines supplied by the series organiser. When choosing equipment for the international OKJ and OK classes or Finland’s national OKN series, be sure to check the requirements for the specific class.

KZ and KZ2 add gears and powerful acceleration. These classes use a 125 cm3 water-cooled gearbox engine. Shifting gears brings its own rhythm to the driving, and the chassis needs to deliver effective braking, lateral grip and traction on corner exits. The Road Rebel’s 32 mm chrome-molybdenum steel chassis is designed specifically for these demands. The minimum age for Finland’s KZ2 class is 15, based on the driver’s year of birth.

Rotax offers options ranging from children’s classes to adult racing. The direct-drive MAX engines feature electric start and a centrifugal clutch for easier operation. In Finland, Micro MAX is for ages 8–11, Mini MAX for ages 10–13, Junior MAX for ages 12–14, and Senior MAX for drivers aged 14 and up. Chassis requirements differ between the younger classes and the junior or senior classes, so the same chassis will not necessarily suit every step of the class pathway.

Rotax DD2 is a two-speed option for drivers aged 15 and up. Its drivetrain requires a chassis designed specifically for DD2 use. The CRG Dark Rider Evo 15 is part of this chassis range and offers an adjustable wheelbase and extensive front-end adjustments. Rotax Master classes are also for adult enthusiasts: in Finland, the minimum age for MAX Master and DD2 Master is 32.

IAME X30 combines direct-drive racing with electric start. The junior and senior X30 classes use a 125 cm3 water-cooled engine with a centrifugal clutch. In Finland’s IAME Series, for the 2026 season, X30 Junior is for ages 12–16 and X30 Senior is for drivers aged 14 and up. The junior class’s performance is restricted with an exhaust restrictor. The series also features X30 Micro for ages 8–12, powered by the smaller 60 cm3 WaterSwift engine, as well as separate adult classes.

The Raket classes give children a path from the basics of karting to racing. In Finland, drivers can compete in Cadet from age six, Raket Micro from age eight, and Raket95 is for ages 10–15. Engine specifications and performance are determined by each class’s regulations. These smaller classes require a chassis sized for the class. The Raket name is also associated with adult karting: for example, the Raket120 engine is used in local club racing series.

Local races and club events are a great way to gain racing experience. At local events, drivers can learn starts, overtaking, flag signals and race-day procedures. They also give more experienced drivers extra time on track in competition. There is no single equipment class for local racing: eligible engines, chassis, tyres and entry requirements are set out in the organiser’s regulations. For example, the Bemböle Tiistaiturnaus is a practice race with guidance for participants, while the Fossiilisarja offers Raket120 races for adult enthusiasts.

CRG chassis offer options for different driving characteristics. The 30 mm KT2 chassis provides an easy-to-adjust starting point for direct-drive classes. The KT4 combines 30 and 32 mm tubes and prioritises lateral grip, especially on slippery tracks with little rubber laid down. The KT5 pairs a 30 mm chassis with a 32 mm front end for drivers who value precise steering feel. The Road Rebel is designed for the demands of gearbox classes, while the Dark Rider is the DD2 option. As well as tube size, chassis geometry and adjustments affect how the kart feels on track.

Choose a chassis to suit your goals and race class. In addition to the model, eligibility depends on the chassis homologation, equipment and current series regulations. With a setup suited to both driver and intended use, you can focus on developing your skills and enjoy every lap.
